16 Mar Plans Unveiled for Second Operating Room at Hants Community Hospital
As Liberals, we know the importance of Nova Scotians being able to get the care they need, when they need it.
Premier Stephen McNeil and Nova Scotia Health Authority President and CEO Janet Knox have unveiled the $3.8 million plan for a second operating room at the Hants Community Hospital. Hants West MLA Chuck Porter was also in attendance.
The renovation of the unused operating room will mean 800 more surgeries can take place at the hospital each year.
Co-ordinating Care and Improving Access
The renovation is part of the province’s QEII redevelopment project, as well as your Liberal government’s goal to improve access for all Nova Scotians.
Right now, the Hants Community Hospital only has one functional operating room. Construction to begin renovations to the second room is expected to begin in August, and be completed over the course of three months.
“We have been given a privilege not every generation is given – the opportunity to reshape our health-care system and change the way we deliver care,” said Premier McNeil.
