Candidate for Cole Harbour Tania Meloni
Since moving back to Cole Harbour nine years ago, Tania has been an active community volunteer and has served as Vice President of the Italian-Canadian Cultural Association of Nova Scotia, President of the Clayton Park West Liberal Association, member of the Cole Harbour Liberal Association, Canadian Naval Diving Association, and Royal Canadian Legion Branch 160.
In 2022, she retired from the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) after serving His Majesty for three decades. Her career started with deep-sea diving and naval command training, and transitioned to public affairs and human resource management. The CAF has provided Tania with an invaluable skill-set she will draw inspiration from to help the people of Cole Harbour.
Athletics are a huge part of Tania’s life. She has competed multiple times on national and international stages. In later years, she coached figure skaters, hockey players and youth rugby players within Cole Harbour Place and across the Halifax Regional Municipality.
As an accomplished athlete and cancer survivor, she strongly believes in the benefits of healthy living and staying active. As such, Tania and her husband Gordon enjoy working outdoors and enjoy time together with family and friends.
She and her family have had challenges to find affordable housing and timely health care solutions. These challenges have inspired her to advocate for others across Nova Scotia. She is excited to have the opportunity to give back to her community. In past roles, she has helped raise over $680,000 for local, provincial and national charities.
