Brendan Maguire acclaimed as Liberal candidate for Halifax Atlantic

(Halifax, NS) – Brendan Maguire has been acclaimed as the candidate for Halifax Atlantic and will represent the Nova Scotia Liberal Party in the next provincial election.

Brendan was first elected to the Nova Scotia Legislature as the MLA for Halifax Atlantic in 2013. He was re-elected in 2017 and has been a champion for the community for the past eight years. Recently, Brendan had the honour of being appointed Minister of Municipal Affairs in Premier Iain Rankin’s new government.

“My family, my friends, and my community are the reason I have the privilege to represent the wonderful people of Halifax Atlantic,” says Maguire. “I’m proud of this community and the work we’ve done together. I can’t wait to continue.”

Brendan is a tireless advocate for his community. In 2019, Brendan secured $1 million in funding for MetroWorks’ EDGE Program, which helps young people who are new clients to Income Assistance with job searching programs. He was critical in providing the Halifax TARS Rugby Club with a new accessible sport and recreation clubhouse in 2020. Brendan stepped up to help his community during the COVID-19 pandemic and played a large role in providing $1 million in funding to United Way’s Atlantic Compassion Fund last year.

“Brendan is a strong and valued voice on our team,” says Premier Rankin. “I know the constituents of Halifax Atlantic will continue to be well-served by him in our new Liberal government.”
