Building a More Prosperous Nova Scotia

As Liberals, we know that so much of our province’s success and future growth depends on quality infrastructure.

For communities to thrive, people need to be able to travel safely and efficiently. They need clean air, reliable water, and enhanced public spaces.

We’re happy to announce your Liberal government and the government of Canada are working together to make long-term infrastructure investments that will create economic growth and jobs for the middle class, build inclusive communities and support a low carbon, green economy, which will lead to a higher quality of life for all of us.

Today’s announcement is very important to the future of our province. This agreement means long-term, predictable infrastructure funding for Nova Scotia. It provides access to $828 million in federal funding over 10 years.

The province will also be investing in this cost-sharing agreement and is looking to maximize the federal funding. The province is pleased to see the program has the flexibility to invest in communities of all sizes.

“Participation in the Investing in Canada infrastructure program is a great opportunity to enhance our province’s public infrastructure. From building a better transportation system to improving our water systems to supporting arts and culture, this investment will create good jobs and build our economy and communities for the future. We look forward to working closely with our federal partners to make strategic investments that will benefit Nova Scotians,” said Premier Stephen McNeil.

This investment will:

• build a better transportation system
• improve our water systems
• reduce greenhouse gas emissions
• support arts and culture

This agreement provides communities across Nova Scotia with the opportunity to drive economic growth, create good jobs and support families and businesses.

Your Liberal government is looking forward to working closely with all of our partners to make strategic investments that will support local priorities and help communities in Nova Scotia prosper and innovate.
