Candidate for Dartmouth South Corey Myers
Born and raised in Eastern Passage, Corey has a deep love for the communities of Dartmouth. He is excited to put his name forward in Dartmouth South, a community he called home for five years. Corey comes from a family of a two-hard working parents and is one of seven children.
Corey is an Assistant Director at a local childcare centre and has been a dedicated early childhood educator for the past five years. He completed a diploma in Early Childhood Education from NSCECE and continues to enhance his education at Saint Mary’s University studying Psychology and English. Throughout his time in the sector, Corey has worked with many advocacy groups and families, supporting Team Churchill’s vision for more affordable childcare spaces across the province.
Corey became the primary caregiver for both of his grandparents after their cancer diagnoses, which made him especially passionate about improving healthcare in Nova Scotia. Throughout this journey, he witnessed the dedication of healthcare workers who are working tirelessly in unfit conditions. He also understands the challenges associated with primary care, as he finds himself on the doctor waitlist like thousands of other Nova Scotians.
Corey values our democracy and believes in the importance of diverse and progressive policies. Throughout his advocacy, Corey is known for his ability to listen to and respect the views of others. As the MLA for Dartmouth South, Corey is committed to open and transparent communication with constituents to build a better future for all and ensure everyone has an opportunity to make their voice heard.
