Candidate for Cape Breton East Joe Ward
Joe has been a strong advocate for better governance in his home community of the Cape Breton Regional Municipality. Over ten years, he's written hundreds of articles and produced podcasts raising concerns, highlighting opportunities, and calling for action. He's sparked conversations at every level of government. Most recently, he finished as runner-up candidate for mayor in the CBRM municipal election among a field of nine.
Throughout the election campaign, he drew praise from citizens, journalists, and political experts for building a strong platform, with very clear objectives and strategies to improve his municipality. Joe has a strong focus on municipal property tax reform and strategies to increase housing availability and affordability in the province. As an analytical thinker, he prioritizes practical solutions over political agendas.
As a father to a 4-year-old son, Joseph, and a foster brother to many children who enter foster care in the province, Joe has a true passion for improving policies that have a direct impact on families and anything that puts their wellbeing at risk.
Joe advocates for greater transparency and accountability in government representation, and believes that he can have a greater impact by successfully achieving a leadership role. He's running in his hometown riding of Cape Breton East.
