Candidate for Argyle Lorelei Murphy
Lorelei Murphy has deep family roots in Argyle, and has lived in Wedgeport for nearly 20 years. Lorelei’s mantra is “if we can do better, we should do better”. She is running to represent the constituency of Argyle because she knows life can be better and more affordable in her community.
Lorelei’s experience as a patient advocate at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital inspired her to put her name on the ballot. Time and time again, she has witnessed patients struggling to find access to the proper type of care they are seeking. With the doctor waitlist doubling in Nova Scotia, patients need a primary care provider now more than ever, and they need a strong advocate to make that happen.
In her time working overseas, Lorelei was exposed to sustainable options that offer long term health benefits, primarily in the areas of preventative medicine, increasing support for the early detection of illnesses and increased mental health support. She believes the Houston government is too focused on band-aid solutions that aren’t going to make substantial differences in our system for the long term.
Lorelei has decades of experience as a figure skater and took home a silver medal for Canada at the International Adult Figure Skating Competition in Oberstdorf, Germany. As a figure skating coach in the Tri-County region, she has played a pivotal role in the lives of many young people.
Working currently as a weighmaster within the local fisheries, Lorelei understands the needs of our fishing sector. She sees first-hand the challenges and opportunities faced by the hardworking men and women who feed families across the region, and is dedicated to sustainability and protection of our oceans and coastlines.
