Candidate for Kings South Mike Hamm

Mike was born into a close-knit military family. Upon graduating high school, he moved to Kings South in 2008 to attend Acadia University in Wolfville. After university, Mike found his way into politics in 2016 when he began working for long-serving MLA Leo Glavine in the Annapolis Valley. This opportunity ignited Mike’s passion for public service and giving back to his community. His experience serving multiple provincial cabinet ministers in a variety of key portfolios such as community sport and recreation, health and wellness, mental health and addictions, and long-term care has provided Mike an in-depth understanding of government and some of the greatest challenges Nova Scotians are facing. In 2022, Mike returned to the Annapolis Valley to be closer to his family and to serve as Chief of Staff to the MP for Kings-Hants in Wolfville, where he continued advocating for local interests and addressing community concerns.

A centrist motivated by principles over politics, Mike believes in fostering strong personal relationships and has a well-established reputation for being able to work well across party lines. With eight years of experience as a senior advisor in provincial and federal governments, Mike has consistently demonstrated a proven ability to engage multiple levels of government to achieve positive outcomes for constituents. Mike is energetic and passionate about preventative health and mental and physical well-being. He has demonstrated commitment and dedication through strength training and competitions, winning Nova Scotia’s Strongest Man 2024 in his weight division before becoming an Atlantic Champion.

Mike is running to become the next MLA for Kings South to be a strong local representative fighting for a more affordable Nova Scotia, with better access to healthcare, renewed roads and infrastructure, stronger rental protections. He is committed to being a champion for the university, agricultural, winery, tourism, and business sectors of the Annapolis Valley.
