Candidate for Dartmouth East Stacy Chesnutt

Since moving to Dartmouth 18 years ago, Stacy has been a dedicated leader in her community. She has organized several major health and wellness events, including Sole Sisters Women’s Race, the largest women’s only 5K in Canada that brought 26,000 women to Dartmouth. She also organized the largest Canada Day Race weekend in the country with Dartmouth’s Epic Canadian Run for Canada.

Her drive to encourage people to have access to a more active lifestyle inspired Stacy to organize a number of running events, supporting local organizations like Shelter Nova Scotia, the East Dartmouth Boys & Girls Club and the Canadian Cancer Society.

Stacy’s passion for creating accessible events for women and girls also led to Girls Gone Gazelle, a free, not-for-profit run and confidence club for girls ages 9-13. The club began in Dartmouth but has expanded across the country from Cape Breton to Saskatchewan, all with the tagline: “I don’t chase boys, I pass them!”

Stacy’s ability to connect with people from all walks of life comes from her own diverse background. Born and raised in Nashville, Stacy moved to New York City just out of university where she assumed she had found her forever home. After meeting her Maritimer husband, she was drawn to Canada where she has since built a successful and fulfilling life in Dartmouth.

As a lifelong athlete, Stacy has completed over 100 marathons including 13 Boston Marathons. She has also participated in a swimming event from New Brunswick to Prince Edward Island to raise funds for Brigadoon Village.

Her ambition and stamina that she has developed from a lifetime of experience and athleticism has prepared her for a new race – this time to become the next MLA for Dartmouth East. Stacy’s campaign is driven by her commitment to making a meaningful difference in her community through resilience, hard work, and dedication.
