Stephanie QuinnCandidate for Pictou East

Stephanie grew up in the small community of Telford in Pictou East, graduating from the now gone East Pictou Rural High School. Although she lived and travelled across Canada for a number of years, she always knew she would eventually make her way back “home”.

As a single mom of two amazing children, she took a job at a local hardware store and worked diligently for almost 10 years. During this time she met her husband, Paul, and transitioned into managing his construction business that has added many rental homes to Pictou County. This is where she realized her passion: the housing needs of her community. She has extensive knowledge of the challenges we face in boosting our affordable housing stock. More than slogans, more than empty promises, she understands intimately the limitations and possibilities in this critical field and welcomes the opportunity to work with a solid, sensible team to tackle this important challenge. To bring doctors, teachers, mechanics, welders and other important service providers to our rural communities, we first need homes for them to live in.

Always driven to learn, she is actively working toward a political science degree with a focus on women’s issues. Both of these important parts of her life led her to volunteering with her local Girl Guide group last year where she has come to love being a part of such a positive organization, devoted to encouraging girls and young women to make the world around them a better place.

Stephanie wants to be part of the team that takes effective action against climate change and protecting our coastline, that supports women in the workforce, in health care, in politics, in their homes and communities, and actually understands what affordability means.
