Candidate for Victoria-The Lakes Stephen MacAskill

Stephen is a lifelong resident of Englishtown, home of the Giant! Steve grew up surrounded by his three brothers and two sisters, as well as a myriad of cousins and extended family.
A graduate of Sydney Mines Memorial High School as a plumbing apprentice, he went on to earn an Interprovincial Plumbing Certificate from the NS Institute of Technology in Halifax. He developed his tireless work ethic working alongside his Dad in the family business, KenMac Plumbing and Heating. For the last 30 years of his working career, Steve worked with Glen Morrison Limestone/Kelly Rock Ltd.
His love of family and community led him to serve in numerous volunteer positions, including President of the Englishtown Community Hall, the MacAskill Heirs Association, positions with the Victoria Highland Civic Center and Vice Chair of the Victoria County Memorial Hospital Charitable Foundation. He is currently serving as a member of the Victoria County Community Health Board. He has also served in leadership roles for both provincial and federal Liberal Associations.

Steve is a firm believer in living an active lifestyle. He has been involved with hockey associations as a player, coach, and official, he has ran numerous 5km and 10km races, and particularly enjoys hiking the many beautiful trails across the County and throughout the Cape Breton Highlands.

Living and working in rural Cape Breton has given Steve a unique view of the challenges facing the constituents of Victoria-The Lakes. He is eager to work on their behalf as their representative.
