Tamara Tynes Powell

Liberal Candidate for Truro-Bible Hill-Millbrook-Salmon River

Tamara was born and raised in Truro, and has had a passion for politics and social justice from a young age. After graduating as Valedictorian from Cobequid Education Centre, she went on to complete a Bachelor Arts with a major in Sociology from Saint Mary’s University. Tamara began working in several provincial government departments, including environment, human resources, and the Supreme Court Family Division. In 2009, she began working with the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission where is currently employed as a human rights officer.

Tamara resides in Truro with her husband, Lester, and their two sons and is a proud Autism Mom. She uses her life experiences to advocate for social justice issues. As part of her participation in a research study with the Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital in Toronto, she will be the keynote speaker at their race and disability conference in March 2022.

Advance Poll: You can vote early at Advance Polls from August 7 to 14

Election Day: Vote on Election Day, Tuesday, August 17

Nova Scotia Tax Credits

Nova Scotia residents can donate up to $5,000 per year to each political party. Your first $1,000 is eligible for a generous 75% tax credit (That means the first $1,000 donated only costs you $250.)
