Thomas TrappenbergCandidate for Sackville-Uniacke
Thomas holds a PhD in Physics and is a Professor of Artificial Intelligence at Dalhousie University. He has authored two textbooks with Oxford University Press and co-authored a book on green values and collaborative politics. Thomas has also supported several AI startups in Nova Scotia and currently serves as Director of AI at a company developing an advanced blood analyzer. He is passionate about leveraging AI to drive economic growth and create new opportunities in Nova Scotia.
A dedicated advocate for sustainability, Thomas ran as a Green Party candidate 11 times in both federal and provincial elections and led the Green Party of Nova Scotia from 2016 to 2021. His commitment to building a sustainable future for the next generation remains steadfast, and he believes that the Liberal Party is now best positioned to facilitate meaningful progress.
Through his political work, Thomas has built relationships across various parties, and he is convinced that moving toward a more collaborative, less partisan government is essential to achieving real progress. He sees healthcare as a sector urgently needing increased cooperation beyond the headlines. Additionally, as we enter a new era of economic transformation, he emphasizes the importance of adapting educational strategies and integrating AI to support a future-oriented economy.
Perhaps most urgently, Thomas is deeply concerned about the impact of inflation, which has left many more Nova Scotians struggling and homeless and for which the Liberal Party of NS has concrete plans.
