Candidate for Cole HarbourHon. Tony Ince

Tony has dedicated his life to giving back and serving his community. Since 2013, he has been representing Cole Harbour and surrounding areas in the Legislature as MLA.

During his time in government, Tony served as Minister of Communities, Culture, and Heritage, the Public Service Commission, and Communications Nova Scotia. Throughout his time as a cabinet minister, Tony proudly held the portfolio of African Nova Scotian Affairs, where he fiercely advocated for African Nova Scotians across the province. Tony was Nova Scotia’s first Minister responsible for the Office of Equity and Anti-Racism Initiatives and is a founding member of the Canadian Congress of Black Parliamentarians.

In 2023, Tony was recognized as one of the 100 Most Influential Black Canadians for his work to improve housing, equity in health care and education, and economic development opportunities for marginalized communities.

Before entering politics, Tony worked as a counsellor with the Department of Community Services, helping at-risk youth, families, and incarcerated individuals navigate the system. He also worked as a project coordinator with the Black Educators Association and as a patient attendant at Victoria General Hospital.

Tony’s vast experience working on the front lines with vulnerable and underserved communities has only fuelled his motivation to make life better for all Nova Scotians. Over the past few years, pressures of the increasing cost of living, lack of affordable housing, and cuts to government programs have taken a toll on people.

Tony believes in compassionate governing, meeting people where they’re at, and supporting Nova Scotians when they need it most. That’s why he’s committed to reducing taxes, addressing the root causes of poverty, increasing affordable housing stock, and attachment to a primary care provider.
