Last night, CBC held the first Leaders Debate of the election. Our leader, Zach Churchill faced off against the PC and NDP leaders, and defended our plan to provide a Better Deal for Nova Scotians.
If you watched it, you’ll agree: Zach was on fire! And he was the only leader on that stage who had the bold, new ideas that our province desperately needs.
The PC Party defended their pamphlet platform. You know, the one that has more photos of their leader than it has plans to address the housing crisis. The NDP leader presented their shortsighted plan full of pie in the sky ideas that aren’t thought out.
The PC leader was adamant throughout the night: he is going to “Make It Happen”, but we have to ask… make what happen? Make the “Need a Family Doctor Registry” skyrocket? Triple the homeless population in our province? Making Nova Scotia go from one of the most affordable places to live in the country to one of the most expensive? Because that’s what his record as Premier has shown.
The NDP leader showed her narrow focus on the issues that matter to her – but not to all Nova Scotians. A housing plan that doesn’t address the lack of supply, an affordability plan that ignores the struggling middle class, and a healthcare plan that fails to invest in preventative healthcare that Nova Scotians so desperately need.
The NDP and PC leaders had one thing in common: they’ve prepared a number of half-measures for Nova Scotians. On issue after issue, it’s clear: the NS Liberal platform goes above and beyond the competition. Our leader showcased our fully costed, fully thought out plan, and it blew the competition out of the water.
Our leader said it best last night: “The good news is, you have a choice to choose a better vision. One that is going to give you $3,000 back in tax cuts. One that has a real plan to build 80,000 new homes while we protect renters and invest in deeply affordable housing units. And one that focuses on getting doctors back into family practice and patients attached to family doctors.”
And don’t forget – this is not just a platform, this is our contract with you.
