Churchill Unveils Bold Plan for First 100 Days of NS Liberal Government

Today, Liberal Leader Zach Churchill announced what Nova Scotians can expect in the first 100 days of a provincial Liberal government, outlining an ambitious and detailed plan to deliver immediate relief and long-term solutions to the province’s challenges.

“I’m confident that our platform is the best positioned to tackle the challenges facing Nova Scotians head-on,” said Churchill. “From healthcare, to housing, to affordability, our plan addresses these issues immediately and lays the groundwork for a stronger future.”

A Nova Scotia Liberal government would take bold actions on Day 1, including:

  • Proclaiming the Coastal Protection Act, which Tim Houston has refused to do.
  • Notifying the CRA of plans to lower the HST by two points, putting more money back in Nova Scotians’ pockets.
  • Convening a meeting with Atlantic premiers to eliminate the carbon tax.
  • Appointing a Minister of Women’s Health to ensure women’s health issues finally receive the focus and resources they deserve.

The first 100 days will also include calling the Legislature back to deliver a budget focused on immediate support and strategic investments. Key commitments include:

  • Doubling the Seniors Care Grant to $1,500 to help fixed-income seniors.
  • Closing the fixed-term lease loophole to prevent tenants from unfair rental increases.
  • Launching a plan to build 80,000 homes to keep up with growing demand.
  • Building and expanding 40 collaborative care clinics to give people access to family medicine close to home.
  • Beginning consultations on a new MacKay Bridge and meeting with municipalities to deliver free public transit across the province.

“Our platform is a contract with Nova Scotians. It’s well-thought-out, fully costed, and designed to deliver results,” said Churchill. “I’m serious about fulfilling every commitment we’ve made. We can – and we will – deliver a better deal for Nova Scotians.”
