Jackie Kinley elected as the candidate for Halifax Chebucto

(Halifax, NS) – Jackie Kinley has been elected as the Liberal candidate for Halifax Chebucto and will represent the Nova Scotia Liberal Party in the next provincial election. Due to COVID-19, the nomination process was conducted virtually.

Jackie has spent much of her life in the community of Halifax Chebucto. She has a background in medicine and is currently a psychiatrist with a passion for mental fitness and resilience. Jackie is a teacher at Dalhousie University and has founded a resilience training institute.

“I am passionate, experienced, and will bring a fresh new lens in the work ahead building and rebuilding after COVID-19,” says Kinley. “Together we can continue to build a vibrant and healthy Nova Scotia under the leadership of Iain Rankin’s Liberal government.”

Outside of her career in medicine, Jackie has worked for sexual assault services and served on boards including Stepping Stone, Doctors Nova Scotia, the Canadian Mental Health Association, and other non-profits.  As a mother of two, Jackie was involved in many of her children’s sports teams as they were growing up and is passionate in ensuring Halifax Chebucto is a community for future generations to thrive.

“Jackie is an extraordinary advocate for mental health and will be an excellent representative for the people of Halifax Chebucto,” said Premier Iain Rankin. “I look forward to working with her to expand access to mental health services for all Nova Scotians in a new Liberal government.”
