Job Growth Smashing Records

Well, the numbers are in, and Nova Scotians have a lot to be proud of! Statistics Canada released the January labour market trends, and it shows that more Nova Scotians are working today than at any other time in our province’s history. 465,100 Nova Scotians were working in January with 381,600 in full-time jobs and another 83,400 in part-time jobs.

11,600 new jobs (10,100 full-time, 1,500 part-time) were created in the last year, driving our unemployment rate down to 6.9 per cent-  the lowest on record!

Our Liberal Government knows that a strong workforce leads to a prosperous Nova Scotia. That’s why we’ve always been resolute in our commitment to a vibrant economic climate that attracts jobs.

Our mantra is simple: government will help create the conditions that allow our talented entrepreneurs to start and grow their businesses here in Nova Scotia. And that’s what happened over the last year; the private sector has led the way in new job creation. Your Liberal Government has helped in creating a climate where businesses can thrive by cutting red tape and lowering small business taxes.
