John John McCarthy acclaimed as Liberal candidate for Glace Bay-Dominion

John John McCarthy has been acclaimed as the Liberal candidate for Glace Bay-Dominion and will represent the Nova Scotia Liberal Party in the next provincial election. Due to COVID-19, the nomination meeting was conducted entirely virtually. 

John John has always been an active member in his home of Glace Bay-Dominion. He is an exceptional athlete and has represented his hometown nationally and internationally as a champion boxer and a baseball player. John John is currently a teacher at Glace Bay High School and owns John John’s Knockout Fitness where he inspires and motivates his students and clients.

“I am honored to carry the Nova Scotia Liberal Party banner in Glace Bay-Dominion in the next provincial election,” says McCarthy. “I want to bring back that sense of hope and pride in our community, and I believe I can achieve this alongside Premier Rankin and the Liberal team.”

Throughout his career, John John has demonstrated his commitment to helping at risk youth unlock their true potential. He has taught the Steps to Success program, behavior intervention programs, and often works with outside agencies to help young offenders. John John has volunteered with the Police Boys and Girls, mentoring programs at Cape Breton University, and supports local initiatives such as the Hawks Club Field of Dreams fundraisers. He has been married to his wife Candee for 21 years and they are proudly raising their two teenage boys, Matthew and Keigan in Glace Bay-Dominion.

“I am pleased that John John has put his name forward to represent the people of Glace Bay-Dominion,” says Premier Rankin. “I look forward to working with him in our new Liberal government.”
