22 May Labi Kousoulis acclaimed as Liberal candidate for Halifax Citadel-Sable Island
(Halifax, NS) – Labi Kousoulis has been acclaimed as the candidate for Halifax Citadel-Sable Island and will represent the Nova Scotia Liberal Party in the next election.
Labi has served the riding of Halifax Citadel-Sable Island as MLA since first being elected in 2013. He has served as Minister of several portfolios, including the Public Service Commission, Internal Services, and Labour and Advanced Education. In 2021, Labi was appointed Minister of Finance and Treasury Board, Minister of Inclusive Economic Growth and Minister of Trade in Premier Iain Rankin’s new government.
“I am so honoured to be able to represent the people of Halifax Citadel-Sable Island as their Liberal candidate once again,” says Kousoulis. “I am proud of the work our Liberal government has done and I am grateful for the opportunity to accomplish even more.”
Labi has been a strong advocate for Halifax. During his time as MLA, Labi played a critical role in securing the QEII New Generation project to help thousands of Nova Scotians access quality healthcare. He has also been a steadfast supporter of the IWK, resulting in several investments such as $8.3 million to expand the Emergency Department. Labi has worked tirelessly to secure investments for post-secondary education, including a large expansion to the Dalhousie Arts Centre.
“It has been a pleasure to work with Labi for the past eight years,” says Premier Iain Rankin. “He is a strong member of our team and I look forward to continuing our important work together in a new Liberal government.”
