Laura Mulrooney Nominated as Liberal Candidate for Chester-St. Margaret’s
Alongside her partner, Didier, Laura owned and operated Julien’s Bakery in Chester for three decades. For more than 30 years, she has called the riding home and understands the issues affecting residents and business owners. Laura is dedicated to addressing the challenges facing her community, from improving cell service and housing to healthcare.
“I’m excited to put my name forward to be the next MLA for Chester-St. Margaret’s,” said Mulrooney. “As a business owner, a mother, and a community volunteer, I am well-versed in the challenges and opportunities in Chester-St. Margaret’s. Like many, one of my own children left Nova Scotia for work. Because of this, I’m committed to making our province a place where seniors can age with dignity and young people can live, work, and raise their own families.”
Laura is currently the co-chair of the Starfish Refugee Group, Vice Chair of Our Health Centre (OHC), and serves as treasurer and advisor for both the Chester and Lunenburg farmers markets boards. Since 2022, she has served as a Village Commissioner in the Village of Chester.
“Laura is an outstanding candidate, and I’m thrilled to have her on our team for the next election,” said Liberal Leader Zach Churchill. “By abandoning the Coastal Protection Act, failing to fix healthcare, and allowing our province to face some of the highest rates of poverty in the country, the Houston Conservatives have failed the people of Chester-St. Margaret’s. I know that as an MLA, Laura will be a great champion for these issues and the people in her riding.”
