27 May Michelle Wilson acclaimed as Liberal candidate for Cape Breton Centre-Whitney Pier
(Halifax, NS) – Michelle Wilson has been acclaimed as the candidate for Cape Breton Centre-Whitney Pier and will represent the Nova Scotia Liberal Party in the next provincial election. Due to COVID-19, the nomination process was conducted virtually.
Michelle was born and raised in Whitney Pier and is passionate about her community. In 2005, she opened her own award-winning business, Timeless Moments Bridal Salon & Formal Wear. In 2014, Michelle sold her business and soon became the Executive Director of the Sydney Downtown Development Association after serving as an active volunteer and board president.
“I am so honoured to be the Liberal candidate for Cape Breton Centre-Whitney Pier,” says Wilson. “I’m excited for the opportunity to make a positive change for my riding alongside Premier Rankin and the Liberal government.”
For many years, Michelle has been a member of the Cape Breton Regional Chamber of Commerce, has served on the board since 2014 and recently finished her role as board chair earlier this year. She is also a board member of Downtowns Atlantic Canada where she advocates for business improvement in the East Coast. Michelle lives in Whitney Pier with her husband Angus and their children.
“Michelle has proven herself to be an extraordinary leader in Cape Breton,” says Premier Iain Rankin. “The people of Cape Breton Centre-Whitney Pier would be fortunate to have her representing them.”
