More Safety Equipment for First Responders

Volunteer first responders will be better equipped to respond to emergencies with about $900,000 in investments under the provincial Emergency Services Provider Fund.

This funding helps volunteer fire departments and other first responders obtain the equipment necessary to respond to emergencies and keep us all safe. These organizations are supported by volunteers, who put in countless hours training for and responding to emergencies.

As Liberals, we know we need to ensure our first responders are protected and have the tools they need to do their jobs as safely as possible.

The Emergency Services Provider Fund offers financial assistance to volunteer fire departments and ground search and rescue organizations, including HAZMAT organizations, to upgrade equipment that is used directly in response to a fire or emergency. Eligible organizations can apply for up to 75 per cent of new safety equipment costs, to a maximum of $20,000.
