Lorelei Murphy Nominated as Liberal Candidate for Argyle

May 28, 2024

Lorelei Murphy has been nominated as the Liberal candidate for Argyle.

With deep family ties to the area, Lorelei has lived in Wedgeport for nearly 20 years. In her experience as a patient advocate at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital, she was inspired to put her name on the ballot and advocate for better healthcare for the people of Argyle.

“I am excited to have the opportunity to be the Liberal candidate for Argyle,” said Murphy. “I have been disappointed by the Houston Conservatives’ failure to make good on their promise to fix healthcare in Nova Scotia. I’m inspired by the ideas brought forward by the Nova Scotia Liberal Party and believe that under a new government, we can create a healthcare system that meets the needs of all Nova Scotians.”

As a figure skating coach in the tri-county region, Lorelei has played a pivotal role in the lives of many young people. Currently, she works as a weighmaster within the fisheries where she has witnessed first-hand the challenges and opportunities within the fishing sector.

“I am so pleased to have Lorelei join our team and I know she will be a strong voice for the people of Argyle,” said Liberal Leader Zach Churchill. “With delays to the Yarmouth emergency department expansion, questions over the future of the Yarmouth ferry, and the closure of the Western branch of the Art Gallery, Southwest Nova Scotia has been overlooked by this government. Argyle deserves a strong MLA and I know Lorelei is prepared to be the voice the community needs.”
