Green technology is growing at an increasingly rapid pace, making collaborative efforts critical to sustaining Nova Scotia’s place in the sector. Leadership on renewable energy positions our province to remain a player in the green economy, bringing quality jobs and sustainable growth to our communities. We want Nova Scotia to be a startup and commercialized leader for current and emerging green technology.
Our government will commit $2 million to establish a Clean Energy Growth Hub that will support leading-edge research and development of the next generation of green technologies. The Hub will further establish Nova Scotia’s leadership on low-cost, low-carbon energy development by housing a specialized working group, mandated to explore the latest developments related to topics such as offshore wind, tidal, green hydrogen, and green energy storage.
The working group’s research will keep us ahead of the green energy curve so that our transition to renewable energy features stable power rates for all Nova Scotians. The hub will also contribute to sector growth and coordination by building relationships with regional and national stakeholders, constructing green economy models, and developing regional strategies with our utility and industry stakeholders.
