Today, the Nova Scotia PC Party released a post on their social media channels accusing the NS Liberals of including a “sneaky new carbon tax” in our platform.
The fact is, that Tim Houston is the only person in our province who wants a carbon tax – and that is so he can use it to pick political fights. The Nova Scotia Liberals are committed to bettering the lives of Nova Scotians, which is why we have a clear plan to eliminate the carbon tax.
Under the previous Liberal government, we successfully evaded the federal carbon tax. Tim Houston is to blame for it coming into effect in our province.
Our proposed cap and trade model will provide immediate relief to Nova Scotians by lowering gas prices by over 10 cents per litre, and targets large emitters, rather than everyday Nova Scotians. This model has worked for us before, it works in various regions across the country, it’s the obvious solution.
Tim Houston wants to deny and deflect instead of taking action or putting forward real solutions – let alone his own climate plan. We’re focused on on providing a Better Deal for Nova Scotians.
