Cape Breton Healthcare

Your Liberal government is investing hundreds of millions in the CBRM Heath Care Redevelopment Plan that will expand and renew aging health care infrastructure in CBRM.

Our focus is to build a health-care model that will serve Cape Bretoners for the next 50 years. This will lead to a more modern system that will be attractive to doctors who are interested in beginning or enhancing their career in Nova Scotia. That starts with replacing the aging health-care infrastructure in the CBRM.

Every day in our province, there are people working diligently behind the scenes, getting us ever closer to new, innovative, state-of-the-art health care facilities on Cape Breton Island. Today we’re excited to officially unveil designs and even more project details for the new community health centre, long-term care facility and laundry facility in North Sydney, new community health centre and long-term care facility in New Waterford, and a 10-bed hospice in Membertou....

As part of our commitment to training more doctors here in Nova Scotia, the new North Nova Family Medicine Teaching Site opened today in Truro. Government is adding 25 new residency spaces across Nova Scotia, 10 of them in family medicine and 15 for specialists. Six of the new family medicine residencies are located at the new Truro site....

Your Liberal government has established the all-party standing committee on healthcare, the first new committee to be created in decades....

We believe everyone has a role to play in making our province more accessible and it is encouraging to see leadership from the business community to make their premises more inclusive and welcoming to persons with disabilities....
