Zach Churchill acclaimed as Liberal candidate for Yarmouth

(Halifax, NS) – Zach Churchill has been acclaimed as the candidate for Yarmouth and will represent the Nova Scotia Liberal Party in the next provincial election. Due to COVID-19, the nomination process was conducted virtually.

Zach has proudly represented the people of Yarmouth since 2010 in the Nova Scotia Legislature. He has been responsible for several cabinet portfolios, including the Minister of Natural Resources, Municipal Affairs, Communications Nova Scotia, and Education and Early Childhood Development. Most recently, Zach was named Minister of Health and Wellness. Prior to politics, he graduated from Saint Mary’s University and served as National Director of the Canadian Alliance of Student Associations.

“I am proud of what we have accomplished to create opportunities for Yarmouth” says Zach Churchill. “There is more work to be done as we recover from the impacts of this pandemic and restore the vibrancy of our economy and communities.”

Zach has been a strong advocate for the tourism industry, lending his voice to ensuring the Yarmouth ferry returns to boost business in the region. He has secured large investments for repairs to highways and roads in the community to ensure residents can enjoy a safe and efficient commute. He has also fought for greater access to primary care services, including a new care clinic, virtual care options for unattached patients, and expanded scope of practice for pharmacists.

“Zach is a hard working representative who is deeply committed to improving the lives of Nova Scotians,” says Premier Iain Rankin. “We are fortunate to have had him as Minister of Health and Wellness and I am proud to have him on our team.”
