Rankin Tables Bill to Support Working Families with Energy-Saving Grants

Today, Environment and Climate Change critic Iain Rankin will table the Power Bill Reduction and Green Economy Support Act, a bill aimed at helping middle-class households improve their home’s energy efficiency with grants of up to $10,000.

This legislation would provide direct financial support to working families to install energy-saving equipment such as heat pumps and radon mitigation systems to enhance both home safety and affordability while also contributing to Nova Scotia’s net-zero emissions targets.

“There’s no question that during the affordability crisis and the climate emergency, we need to reduce energy demand and help working families make their homes safer with upfront grants,” said Rankin. “Nova Scotians want a greener future, and the government has tools to help families make the transition–it just needs to put them to use.”
